Mars & Intro to Coding with Scratch

Watch the introduction videos and then make your own short animation about your "visit to Mars." Work through the coding challenges first, and then experiment on your own. We'll walk around to see everyone's video at the end. Most of all, have fun, and let a grown-up know if you need help!

1. Watch this video about Mars:

3. Go to the 4-H Insight from Mars Activity Page and click "Start Coding" to launch the Scratch activity. Login using our 4-H username and password provided at the meeting. On the bottom right of the page you'll see examples of other kids' remixes. Click on one or two to get ideas. For tips on how they were coded, click on the "See Inside" button next to the "Remix" button:

4. One you've watched a couple remixes, click on the "Remix" button at the top right to start making your own. Follow the challenge cards first. Once you've completed all 6 challenges, you can experiment until the time is up. If you're proud of your creation, feel free to publish it!

Printable version here INGREDIENTS 2 1/2 tsp. (8 grams) instant yeast 1 1/3 cups (300 grams) warm water (Warm it in the microwave for about 20 seconds to get it between 80-90F. The water will feel warm but not hot.) 3 cups (375 grams) all-purpose flour, plus more for ...
